The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Korea Tourism Organization, and the 2025 Visit Korea Year Committee commissioned Hohodang to produce commemorative patches celebrating the 2025 APEC Summit.

For this project, Hohodang drew inspiration from two traditional elements that symbolize Korea: the gat and the Horjakdo (Tiger and Magpie painting) motif.

The gat is a semi-transparent traditional hat woven from fine bamboo strands, and was a representative headpiece worn daily by adult men during the Joseon Dynasty. Its delicate structure and transparent silhouette reflect the restrained beauty of Korean craftsmanship.

Horjakdo is a traditional folk painting depicting a tiger and a magpie together. It carries auspicious meanings, symbolizing the delivery of good news and serving as a protective image believed to ward off evil.
