On January 14 and 15, 2025, a Jihambo wrapping class was held over two days at the Sulwhasoo House in Bukchon.
In this class, we explored the history and meaning of bojagi, and reflected on why it has long been used in Korean culture as a medium to show respect and convey heartfelt intentions. We also shared stories behind traditional bojagi, in which even the choice of color and pattern carries symbolic meaning.
In addition, we introduced the philosophy and production process of jihambo, which Sulwhasoo and Hohodang have developed together over the past ten years. Jihambo is created through continuous research into Korean tradition and aesthetics, and is designed as a form of wrapping that retains its value over time.
During the class, participants learned jihambo wrapping techniques as well as various seasonal wrapping methods that can be used ahead of traditional holidays. Through a total of six sessions, we hope all participants were able to enjoy a meaningful holiday season, sharing gifts wrapped with care and sincerity.
